Portland-area fans of science, it’s time to get your hack on.

This year’s Science Hack Day will start at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 7 and run for 24 hours. The event is aimed at helping people get excited about using science to make things and to see what they can create in just a day.

Hack Day will be held at XOXO Outpost in Northeast Portland. It’s a family-friendly event, but some activities are limited to ages 18 and older. Anyone can join in, regardless of skill set or knowledge of science. Event organizers also will help participants find teams to hack with and projects to work on.

The event is free, and you can register and get more information on the Hack Day website.
